This comes after Squires recently made an appearance on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast to talk about the latest goings-on at the club.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the topic of potential player departures this summer, Squires named Grujic as one player that could end up leaving Anfield in the coming weeks.

He said: “He’s had a good couple of years on loan at Hertha Berlin. Jurgen Klopp does rate him highly, but he could be another one where Liverpool just cut their losses. They know they can get money for him and move him on. He would be sold at a profit and a number of clubs have been linked with him including Hertha Berlin – they’d like to keep him permanently. Lazio have been linked, Borussia Monchengladbach, there is interest there, and whilst Liverpool have got such a well-stocked midfield, even say with James Milner now reaching the final years of his career, you find it difficult to see a long-term position for Grujic in Liverpool’s starting XI.”

Grujic first signed to Liverpool back in January 2016 from Red Star Belgrade for a fee of £6.3 million.

During his time as a Liverpool player, the 24-year-old has had loan spells at Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin, as well as former club Red Star Belgrade.

Overall, Grujic has managed to make a total of just 14 appearances for the Liverpool first team since his arrival at the club.

TIF Thoughts…

With Grujic spending most of his time as a Liverpool player out on loan, it’s no surprise that his name has now been mentioned in a list of potential players that could depart the club permanently this summer.

As Squires mentioned in the podcast, Liverpool would know that they could potentially make a profit on Grujic if they were to sell him this summer. This could turn out to be an important deal for Liverpool due to the financial impact the current global pandemic is set to have on the football transfer market.
