On the topic of Brewster, Pearce shared his thoughts on the forward and what the options are for his future at Liverpool.

He said: “I don’t think Brewster gets enough of a say in the conversation, really, because he was so, so highly rated before he got that terrible injury, which I think he ended up having surgery on both his knee and his ankle and effectively cost him a good year of his career and it has been a long road back.

“I think Liverpool probably expected him to feature a bit more than he did in the first half of the season. He wasn’t quite up to speed because again, I think linked back to the injury, so Liverpool have got a lot of big decisions to make over the coming weeks, because what is going to be best for his development in terms of next season?

“Is it best to keep him around as a squad option? Can he really come in and really challenge with Roberto Firmino for a starting place? Can he impact games off the bench, or would his development actually be best served by another loan to help him kick on again?”

The 20-year-old, who is currently valued at £4.86 million according to Transfermarkt, is currently on loan at Championship side Swansea City where he has been since the previous January transfer window.

In 19 Championship appearances for Swansea since his arrival in Wales, Brewster has managed to score nine goals but hasn’t managed to provide an assist for his teammates (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

With Brewster’s loan deal at Swansea set to expire at the end of the month, the Merseyside club will need to make a decision at some point regarding what Brewster’s next move will be.

As Pearce spoke about in the podcast, Liverpool will have to decide on whether or not they feel Brewster could be a useful member of their squad for next season or maybe another loan deal could be beneficial for the striker.
