2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the topic of Milner, Salmon shared his thoughts on the Englishman and also made a claim about a potential summer transfer move for the 34-year-old.

He said: “I also think there’s a very definite possibility of a world where James Milner kicks off in a Leeds shirt at the beginning of next season.

“If I’m Milner and my boyhood club has just come up to the [Premier League] and I’ve got the chance of playing for them one last time, I’m going to take that chance.

“If I’m Jurgen Klopp, I’m letting him go on a free transfer because he’s been one of the best things we’ve ever done. He’s been an incredible purchase so I could genuinely see Milner moving on.”

Milner started his playing career at the Yorkshire club before leaving Leeds in 2004 for Newcastle United for a fee of £6.66 million, according to Transfermarkt.

The Englishman, who is currently valued at £5.85 million, signed to the Reds on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015. Since then, the 34-year-old has gone on to make a total of 214 appearances for Liverpool, in which he has managed to score 26 goals and provide 40 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

The 2019/20 season saw Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League by ending their campaign at the top of the Championship table with 93 points, winning 28 of their 46 played league matches (per BBC Sport).

TIF Thoughts…

With Leeds earning their place in the Premier League for next season, perhaps it is possible that Milner may want the opportunity to play for his boyhood side in the top flight next year.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Milner makes the move back to Elland Road this summer.
