Liverpool could face competition from their Merseyside neighbours in their pursuit of Lille forward Victor Osimhen.

Le 10 Sport reported earlier this year that the Reds had held discussions with the 21-year-old attacker, but according to a fresh report from Area Napoli, Everton are also interested in landing the player.

Osimhen arrived in France last summer from the Belgian side RSC Charleroi after Lille paid a reported fee of £12.6m to secure his services (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Liverpool are the current Premier League champions and for now, they remain the reigning European champions, so we believe it would be fair to suggest they would have a stronger pulling power than their local rivals in terms of attracting players.

However, when you take into account that Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have scored an impressive 54 goals between them this season, it could be extremely difficult for the Lagos-born striker to break into the side and play regular first-team football.

If we’re to believe the reports, there are a number of clubs monitoring the player’s situation at Lille, but given the rivalry with Everton, if the Reds are keen on Osimhen, we can assume they will be determined not to miss out to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
