Liverpool journalist Ben Kelly has made a big claim on Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

This comes after Kelly recently made an appearance on Liverpool-themed podcast Redmen TV to preview Liverpool’s upcoming clash with Pep Guardiola’s side later this week.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

During the episode, Kelly shared his thoughts on City’s Belgian midfielder and a potential move to Liverpool for him.

He said: “He [Kevin De Bruyne] would love to play in this Liverpool team, by the way. If De Bruyne was to move this summer because of City’s Champions League ban and Liverpool came in for him, he’s not going to say no.

“Everybody wants to play this Liverpool side at the moment.

“There’s no way that Kevin De Bruyne is sat there thinking he’s too good for this Liverpool side. What a load of rubbish.”

Would Kevin De Bruyne be a good signing for Liverpool?

No

The £108m-rated 29-year-old has been in stunning form for City so far this season. In 29 Premier League appearances so far this season, De Bruyne has managed to score 10 goals and provide 16 assists along the way.

His performances in those league appearances have earned him a season rating of 7.88/10, making him City’s highest-rated player for this campaign (per WhoScored).

Not only has this season rating made him the best performer at City, but he’s also the highest-rated player in the entire Premier League of those who have made over 10 appearances during this campaign, too.

TIF Thoughts…

Any talk of De Bruyne leaving City this summer is just speculation at this moment in time. However, given how impressive he has been for City this year, it wouldn’t bee too ridiculous to assume that a lot of teams would be interested in signing him, should the opportunity arise.
