On the topic of Lallana, who will be leaving the club at the end of the season, Henderson shared his thoughts on the player.

He said: “I think [Lallana] needs a lot of credit.

“Anybody who tells you who’s played against him or played with him will tell you how good a footballer he is, to be fair, and I’m not just saying that because he’s one of my good mates. Unfortunately, he had a period where he had a bad injury which took him a bit of time to recover from and get back from. That was a tough time for him. I could see how much that hurt him, playing so well, being so consistent to then having a bad injury and not been involved for a long period of time is so difficult as a footballer, I’ve experienced it and it’s not nice.

“That was really tough to see him down and out for so long, but he’s been back fit for a long period of time now. Unfortunately, of course, he’s going to move on this summer, but whatever team gets him are in for a big treat because he’s a massive player and a great lad, a great leader within the team, in the dressing room, even though you might not have seen him much on the pitch the last season or so, he still has a big influence in the dressing room. So the lads will definitely miss him.”

Lallana signed to the Merseyside club back in 2014 from fellow Premier League side Southampton for a fee of £27.9 million.

Since then, the 32-year-old, who is currently valued at £8.55 million according to Transfermarkt, has gone on to make 178 appearances for the Reds in which he has managed to score 22 goals and provide 22 assists.

As Henderson mentioned, Lallana has suffered his fair share of injuries during his time at Anfield that have made him miss a lot of matches for the club. The longest of which being a hamstring injury he suffered back in July 2017 that kept him out of action for 21 games (per Transfermarkt).

It was announced back in June that Lallana had signed a contract extension that would make him available for selection for Liverpool’s remaining games this season before leaving the club at the end of the campaign.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s clear to see from Henderson’s comments that he clearly has a lot of love and respect for Lallana and appreciates what he has done for the club since his arrival back in 2014.

It will be interesting to see what the next move will be for Lallana as he prepares to leave the Merseyside club this summer.
