Liverpool journalist Ian Doyle has shared some news on Reds captain Jordan Henderson and his potential injury during their 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek.

This comes after Doyle recently made an appearance on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast to share his assessment of the victory at the Amex Stadium.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the topic of Henderson, who came off in the second half of the match with a suspected injury issue, Doyle shared this update on the situation.

He said: “A negative, and a very big negative, came from Jordan Henderson. He had a collision with about 10 minutes to go. We could hear it from the press box at the back of the stand here at the Amex Stadium and [it] didn’t sound great.

“He was down for a while, he got up, he hobbled off and I think he tried to come back on, but the substitution had to be made. James Milner came on for him and Jurgen Klopp said after the game [it] didn’t seem good.

“He [Klopp] takes great stock in how players feel when these kinds of things happen and Henderson didn’t look happy when he went off and by all accounts, in the dressing room he’s not particularly pleased which doesn’t augur well for his fitness because obviously in a very short space of time, Liverpool have those four remaining games.

“The season will be done by the end of this month and there’s every chance that the next season could start at the end of August and certainly by the middle of September, so any absence for Henderson – he’ll have a scan on Thursday back on Merseyside – will be a blow for Liverpool.”

Will Jordan Henderson be a big miss for Liverpool if he can't play for the rest of the season?

No

Despite the injury to Henderson, Liverpool managed to secure all three points against Brighton thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Henderson himself (per BBC Sport).

Henderson has had a fairly strong season for Liverpool so far this year having earnt himself a season rating of 7.15/10 for his performances in his 30 Premier League appearances for the Reds (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Given how impressive Henderson has been for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, his potential absence for their upcoming fixtures could well have a negative impact for the Reds.

However, Jurgen Klopp should not have too much of an issue replacing the Englishman in the midfield should he need to with Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Georginio Wijnaldum, Curtis Jones, James Milner and Naby Keita all capable of playing in the midfield.
