Liverpool and Scotland left-back Andy Robertson appeared on a recent edition of The Lockdown Tactics where he shared his thoughts on potentially playing for his boyhood club Celtic one day.

During a 2018 interview with the Liverpool Echo, Robertson discussed his ‘passion’ for football, revealing that he and his family ‘used to go and watch Celtic’ in his youth.

The left-back was, once upon a time, a member of the Hoops’ academy, however, he was released by Celtic at the age of 15. Robertson subsequently joined Queen’s Park before working his way up the football ladder until he joined Liverpool in July 2017. Since then, Robertson has helped the Reds to win the 2018/19 Champions League and the 2019/20 Premier League

During his recent appearance on The Lockdown Tactics, Robertson shared his thoughts on one day playing for his boyhood club.

The left-back said: “When I was younger and said ‘I want to play for Celtic’, I wanted to give my best years at Celtic. I didn’t want to be hanging on and going up there at 33/34 when I knew my best years are gone.

“It’s something that, maybe, at one time, I’ll need to think about. I still follow Celtic, I still watch them most weeks, if I can, they still [have] a close place in my heart so it would be hard to say no.”

The fact that Robertson has revealed that he still has fond feelings for Celtic does make it appear as though the left-back is still open to the idea of playing for the Hoops one day.

However, the £57.6m-rated man is currently under contract with the 2019/20 Premier League champions until June 2024 and considering how much success Robertson has been enjoying at the Merseyside club, it may be unlikely that he will depart from Anfield to join his boyhood club any time soon.
