A recent report from The Telegraph has claimed that Leicester City playmaker James Maddison could be ruled out ‘for most of Leicester’s bid to secure Champions League football’ this season, as a result of a hip injury.

Maddison has been absent from the Foxes’ squad for both of their two most recent Premier League games and The Telegraph’s recent report on the player explains that his absence has been caused by ‘a hip injury’ that he ‘aggravated when he came off the bench against Everton’ during Leicester’s 2-1 loss to the Toffees at the beginning of July.

This report states that the Foxes fear that Maddison’s current injury issues could ‘sideline him for over a fortnight’ and the England international, who is currently valued at £43.2m according to Transfermarkt, is set to be ‘assessed this week’ to determine whether or not he will be available for the Foxes between now and their final Premier League game of the season against Manchester United, who are competing with Leicester for a place in the Premier League’s top four

TIF Thoughts…

As per WhoScored, Maddison has earned an average overall rating of 7.34 from his 31 Premier League appearances this season, making him Leicester City’s second-highest-rated player in the Premier League for the 2019/20 season at present.

Maddison is also currently Leicester’s joint-third-highest goalscorer in the Premier League this season.

This indicates that he has played an important role for Leicester City in the Premier League this term and his absence may deal a blow to the Foxes’ hopes of securing Champions League football for next season if his impending injury assessment yields negative results for Leicester.
