Everton are reportedly ‘expected’ to resume their chase to sign Crystal Palace’s Ivorian attacker Wilfried Zaha this summer.

According to the Daily Mirror, the 27-year-old forward is still keen to leave Selhurst Park and, therefore, the Eagles are willing to let him leave for the ‘right price’.

However, the Toffees will not be the only side chasing the signing of Zaha as a number of other clubs are believed to be returning to the table for him.

As stated in the Mirror’s report, Everton had two bids knocked back for the Ivorian attacker last summer.

While Carlo Ancelotti has replaced Marco Silva as Everton’s manager since then, the Italian manager is also a ‘big admirer’ of Zaha and is keen on bringing him in.

Zaha currently has three years left on his contract with the Eagles and a market value of £39.6m, according to Transfermarkt.

TIF Thoughts…

While Zaha has been less impressive this season than he has been in recent years (per WhoScored), for the right price, the attacker could be a good acquisition for the Toffees.

Over the 2019/20 season, the Ivorian has been Crystal Palace’s best-performing player with a solid 6.98/10 average rating in the league.

Had the 27-year-old frontman earned the same average rating for the Toffees this season, then he would have been their third-best performer.

Meanwhile, in comparison with Everton’s best-performing player this season, Richarlison, Zaha’s stats appear to be impressive.

While Richarlison has scored nine more goals than Zaha this season, the pair have made the same number of key passes with 0.9 per game and the Ivorian has performed far more dribbles per match (4.3) that the Brazilian has (1.7).

However, Richarlison has taken more shots per game (2.5) than Zaha has (1.6), so, perhaps the two attackers would complement one another well.
