According to recent reports, Ipswich Town defender Luke Woolfenden has admitted that he is flattered to be linked with the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, Woolfenden claimed that ‘it’s obviously nice to see you’re linked with big clubs’ – regarding reported interest from the likes of the Eagles and Championship table-toppers Leeds United.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

The defender has been one of the standout performers in League One for Ipswich Town this season, featuring 31 times in the league for the club, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

The 21-year-old has played a part in Ipswich conceding just 36 goals this season, which, despite the team finishing in 11th place, is two fewer than second-placed Rotherham United.

TIF Thoughts…

With Woolfenden being valued at what seems like an extremely modest £90k, he would certainly be a cheap option should Crystal Palace or Leeds make a move for the defender – particularly if the effects of the pandemic on the finances of football clubs across the world leave Ipswich in a position to sanction the sales of certain players.

However, with Crystal Palace currently having quite significant cover at centre-back – with the likes of Mamadou Sakho, James Tomkins, Gary Cahill, Jairo Riedewald, Scott Dann and Ryan Inniss all capable of playing in the centre of the Palace defence – it would seem that, should Woolfenden make the move from Suffolk to south London, he will certainly have his work cut out for him to tie down a spot in the first team.
