Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a move for Rangers full-back Borna Barisic in the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Roy Hodgson’s side are keen to bolster their defensive options by signing the 27-year-old defender ahead of next season. However, they could face competition for his signing, with the report suggesting that the Croatia international has previously attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Barisic enjoyed a superb 2019/20 campaign with Rangers; making 22 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, contributing two goals and eight assists (per Transfermarkt). In all competitions, the defender produced an impressive two goals and 14 assists.

Since joining the Gers from NK Osijek in 2018, the left-back has made 61 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side, with two goals and 18 assists to his name in total (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

With the Scottish Premiership set to kick off next week, you would imagine that Rangers would not be keen to part ways with Barisic easily, and they may demand more than his current value of £3.6 million. Palace will no doubt be keen to make additions to their squad, especially when you consider their dreadful end-of-season form, which saw them lose seven and draw once in their final eight Premier League fixtures (per Sky Sports).

Therefore, with the transfer window now officially open, perhaps we will see the Selhurst Park outfit make a bid for Barisic in the not-too-distant future. As the report from Football Insider suggests, Patrick Van Aanholt’s contract has just one season to run, so bringing in a left-back may well be seen as a priority for the Eagles, especially if they can’t tie down the Dutchman to a new deal.
