Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is set for crunch talks with the club’s hierarchy regarding his future, according to the Daily Mail.

The former England boss is said to have ‘differing views’ to those upstairs with regards to their summer recruitment plans. It is understood that the club’s chiefs are keen to bring in younger players, whereas Hodgson believes his squad needs additional experience.

The Eagles have lost seven games in a row, which arguably weakens Hodgson’s position as he prepares to face those who run the south London club.

The 72-year-old took charge of the team back in September 2017 and has been in the hotseat ever since. He has taken charge of 121 matches to date, winning 42, drawing 27 and losing 52 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). His average points-per-match total currently stands at 1.26.

TIF Thoughts…

Hodgson’s current deal with the club is due to expire at the end of next season but if there is indeed a disagreement with which way to take the club forward, we wouldn’t rule out an early departure for the former Liverpool, Inter and Switzerland boss.

The Daily Mail reports that the talks scheduled to take place between Steve Parish and the manager ‘will establish whether the board and Hodgson can agree on the plan to sign younger players’. It’s also said that the club wish to remain ‘respectful’ to the experienced coach given he has helped to consolidate their top-flight position since his arrival. However, in our view, the ‘differing’ opinions could make Hodgson feel as though he no longer has the chairman’s backing, leading to a parting of company at the end of this season.
