Eintracht Frankfurt are ready to listen to offers for Crystal Palace target Filip Kostic, according to Bild.

The Bundesliga club’s chief Wolfgang Steubing told the publication: “I do not rule out the sale of Kostic and Trapp. Because the market situation is difficult.” According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Kostic is valued at £28.8m and it is understood his current employers are looking for something in the region of €30m (£27.21m) to part ways with the player.

In the German top flight this season, the Serbian has made 33 appearances, scoring four goals and providing his teammates with 12 assists – meaning he has participated directly in 27% of the club’s league goals (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Kostic’s current contract still has until June 2023 to run but Steubing’s comments will give Crystal Palace encouragement if they are indeed interested in doing a deal for the player.

According to WhoScored.com, the player’s average performance rating in the Bundesliga throughout the 2019/20 campaign comes in at an impressive 7.41/10. In the UEFA Europa League, the former Hamburg left-midfielder boasts an even higher rating of 7.47/10.

TIF Thoughts…

Currently, the only naturally left-sided midfielder Roy Hodgson has available to him is Jeffrey Schlupp. The former Leicester City player has appeared 14 times in the Premier League this season, providing one assist and scoring twice (via WhoScored.com).

Although Kostic has played a lot more football than Schlupp this season, it can be argued, based on the aforementioned statistics, that the Serbian international would add more creativity to the side, considering he has provided 12 assists in the league alone.

It is not yet known how much of an impact the recent pandemic will have on the transfer market and whether or not the two clubs and the player will be able to reach an agreement that will see Kostic move to south London.
