Aston Villa vlogger and fan Max Stokes has made a transfer claim on Pepe Reina and his future at the Birmingham club.
This comes after Stokes released a video on his YouTube channel discussing which Villa players he would sell or keep this summer.
With Reina, Stokes shared his thoughts on the shot-stopper and what he would do with him in regards to his future at Villa.
He said: “I know obviously he was on loan from AC Milan, but I’d probably say get rid of him. He’s 38-39, he’s a really good character in the dressing room he really is, but I think with his age and he has looked a tiny bit dodgy in a few games, I’d say get rid of Pepe Reina.”
The former Liverpool goalkeeper signed for Dean Smith’s side on a loan deal from AC Milan after Tom Heaton suffered a season-ending injury on New Year’s Day.
During his time at Villa, Reina made 12 appearances for Villa in which he conceded 20 goals and kept just two clean sheets (per Transfermarkt).
What should Villa do with Pepe Reina?
Let him go back to Italy
Get him on another season-long loan deal
Buy him
TIF Thoughts…
It’s a shame that Stokes doesn’t think Reina should be given a new deal at Villa when he has been part of the side that kept the club in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth.
It will be interesting to see what the Birmingham club does with Reina this summer, they could either let him go back to Italy or potentially attempt to keep him at Villa Park through another loan deal or a permanent signing.
