This comes after Evans recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Villa-themed podcast 1874 to share his thoughts on Villa’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at the weekend.

Who scored Villa's goal in their 1-0 win against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014/15 Premier League season?

On the topic of Luiz, Evans shared his thoughts on the midfielder and his performances for the Birmingham club since the league restarted.

He said: “He gets very frustrated in the games and I wrote a piece about Luiz, about the changes in his game and what he’s done to become more defensive-minded, and a much better player, let’s be honest – because the last five games since Project Restart, he’s been a lot better than he was in the 28 games previously.

“I can see his frustration, because it feels like he’s one of those players that wants to get up the pitch and try and do things, try to be a bit more creative and try to show a bit more enterprise rather than just sitting back and defending, but it’s frustrating that the players around him aren’t able to quite do it for him, and you can see that frustration in his face.”

In his debut season at Villa since signing from fellow Premier League side Manchester City in the previous summer transfer window, Luiz has made 37 appearances for Villa across all competitions in which he scored three goals and provided two assists (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

The fact that Luiz showed signs of frustrations while playing for Villa against Liverpool perhaps shows how determined he is to keep the club in the Premier League and away from relegation.
