Journalist David Ornstein shared some information with regard to Arsenal’s feelings about Hector Bellerin heading into the summer transfer window in response to a reader’s question in the comments section of a recent article for The Athletic

Bellerin, who is valued at £28.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), hasn’t been enjoying his best season for the Gunners. The Spanish right-back missed some game time due to injury this season and even if he plays the full 90 minutes in both of the Gunners’ remaining two Premier League fixtures this season, he will accumulate a lower total of Premier League minutes this term than he has in any season since making his Premier League debut back in the 2014/15 campaign, as per Transfermarkt.

Some reports recently emerged which linked Bellerin with a move away from north London. Sky Deutschland recently reported that the 25-year-old is currently ‘unsatisfied’ at the club and wants a move away from the Emirates (via Daily Star).

A reader asked Ornstein for the latest news on Bellerin in response to his latest article for The Athletic and the journalist replied to this request by saying: “Arsenal want Bellerin to stay,” indicating that at least one party would like to continue this relationship, however, whether or not the feeling is mutual from Bellerin’s end remains to be seen.

TIF Thoughts…

This update may be unlikely to quash the rumours of discontent from the Spaniard’s side, as Ornstein didn’t share any news with regard to Bellerin’s feelings on staying at the Emirates.

As per Transfermarkt, Arsenal currently have alternative right-back options in their first-team squad, including Cedric Soares, who originally joined the club on loan in January but the Portuguese right-back has since made his move to the north London club a permanent one

Arsenal’s decision to purchase a new right-back may not be a great sign for Bellerin’s future at the club and that decision may also not have been helpful in convincing the Spaniard to remain at the Emirates, however, time will tell if Arteta can convince his compatriot to buy into his vision for the Gunners and change his mind with regard to leaving.
