Ornstein made reference to Mikel Arteta’s positivity with regards to the contract negotiations; however, Ornstein didn’t completely rule out the possibility of him being sold which may worry some supporters. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Aubameyang is currently valued at £50.4m which supports the journalist’s claims that he is somebody from whom the club could raise money if need be.

In all competitions this season, he finished as Arsenal’s top goalscorer by quite some way, as he scored 27 goals with Alexandre Lacazette coming in second with 12, that’s 15 goals less than the club captain, highlighting his importance to the side.
