On a recent edition of the Arsecast Extra podcast, the future of Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was discussed and James McNicholas has suggested that the Gabonese international could be tempted by a summer move to Spain.

Aubameyang signed for Arsenal back in January 2018 for a fee of £57.38m from Borussia Dortmund (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) and has made quite the impression, scoring 63 goals for the Gunners.

The 31-year-old has made 101 appearances for the club and bagged his 50th Premier League goal on Wednesday evening reaching the landmark in just 79 games, achieving the milestone quicker than club legend Thierry Henry.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Speaking on the Arsecast Extra following Mikel Arteta’s recent comments on discussions over the striker’s future, McNicholas said: “What I keep getting stuck on is why would Aubameyang stay if he could go to Barcelona, for example? That is where I get stuck, he’s got one more chance to make that move and play at the very top of the European game.

“He’d love Real Madrid, that would be his real dream, because he grew up a Real Madrid fan.”

TIF Thoughts…

Arsenal currently sit in 8th place, evidencing the fact they have endured a difficult season so far but despite that, the club captain has scored nineteen goals and sits joint-top of the Premier League scorers list.

Having suffered back to back defeats at Manchester City and Brighton, Arsenal have won their last three games (via Arsenal.com) with Aubameyang scoring a brace against relegation fighting Norwich City.

While the striker has another year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk), his goalscoring threat may have evoked the interest of other clubs. With Aubameyang turning 32 next summer, we believe the Arsenal captain could be tempted by one last big move.
