Joseph Masi and Luke Hatfield discussed the latest goings-on at West Bromwich Albion during the most recent edition of The Express and Star’s Baggies Broadcast podcast, during which Masi discussed the possibility of Grady Diangana re-joining the Baggies on loan from West Ham United next season.

Diangana has been on loan at The Hawthorns since last August and it may be fair to say that the England U21 international has delivered some positive performances during his current loan spell with the Baggies. Diangana has scored seven goals and provided five assists in his 28 Championship appearances this season, as per WhoScored

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

This makes him the club’s joint-fourth-highest goalscorer and third-highest assist provider for the 2019/20 Championship campaign. Diangana has also earned an average overall rating of 7.13 this term according to WhoScored, making him the Baggies’ third-highest-rated player in the league this season at present.

With that in mind, it may not come as a surprise that Masi and Hatfield spent some time discussing the possibility of Diangana re-joining the club for a second loan spell next season during the latest edition of the Baggies Broadcast podcast

While discussing the possibility of Diangana returning to The Hawthorns next season, Masi said that: “In January, West Ham said, ‘well hang on, if you want to keep him, you’re going to have to pay a little bit more money’, because obviously they’re in such a strong position because Albion really wanted him and if they didn’t, someone else would’ve paid more money to take him for the rest of this season.

“So, Albion obviously did that deal and during that time, they held talks with West Ham about keeping him for next season as well on loan. Obviously that deal wasn’t done, but they weren’t put off and from what I gather, West Ham basically said to them, if you get up, we would be interested in sending Diangana back out on loan to you because we’d like him to play regularly in the Premier League for a year before coming back to us.”

Masi then went on to explain that football’s transfer market is likely going to be impacted by the ongoing viral outbreak, before stating that: “There was that indication from West Ham that they would be open, potentially, to letting Diangana come back on loan or definitely sending Diangana out on loan to a Premier League side next season.”

TIF Thoughts…

Judging by Masi’s comments, it appears that West Ham are, or at least were, prior to the current viral outbreak, open to allowing Diangana to return to The Hawthorns for next season should the club earn promotion to the Premier League for the 2020/21 campaign. Considering how impressively Diangana has performed for the Baggies this year, this may be positive for the club as they close in on a potential return to the Premier League
