West Bromwich Albion are reportedly set to bid for Filip Krovinovic following the opening of the summer transfer window.

Portuguese news outlet A Bola claims (via Sport Witness) that the Baggies are readying a bid for the Croatian midfielder after his loan spell with the club this season. The 24-year-old joined on loan from Benfica at the start of last season and made 40 appearances in the Championship for Slaven Bilic’s side, contributing three goals and four assists (per Transfermarkt).

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

The report suggests that the newly-promoted side are ready to bid €10 million (£9.1 million) for the midfielder this summer, although the report from Sport Witness also includes some quotes from the player regarding his future, after he spoke to Croatian website Vecernji, saying:

“I don’t know yet. The Championship has just ended and we have not yet started negotiations. The situation in Benfica has changed a bit, coach Lage, who didn’t use me, left, and if he had stayed at the club, I would surely have been even closer to staying in England.

“There is no clause in my loan agreement according to which WBA can buy me out, so not everything is under my control if the new coach Jesus wants to keep me.”

TIF Thoughts…

From the sounds of things, Krovinovic’s future is quite uncertain, following Benfica’s recent decision to change managers, and new boss Jorge Jesus may well be keen to hand the Croatian a spot in his squad.

It will be interesting to see if the 24-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements by the Liga NOS side, and whether or not he will complete a move to West Brom this summer.
