Podcast specialist James Marriott and Dom Howson discussed all things Sheffield Wednesday on the most recent edition of the Singing The Blues podcast and the pair spent some time discussing the future of Owls attacker Atdhe Nuhiu during the show.

The Owls didn’t end the 2019/20 Championship season on a high. As per WhoScored, they lost both of their final two Championship games and they managed to win just one of their final seven league fixtures.

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

However, it may be fair to say that Nuhiu did produce some positive performances for the Owls towards the end of the season, with four of his nine league goal contributions for the campaign came within Wednesday’s last six games.

Despite that, Marriott wasn’t very positive about the Kosovo international’s Hillsborough future during the latest edition of the Singing The Blues podcast, revealing that he believes it may be “the end of the road” for Nuhiu at the Yorkshire-based club.

Marriott said: “He is probably one of the most ‘marmite’ characters we’ve ever had at the football club. The stuff on Instagram from other players would suggest that it’s the end of the road, although nothing official [has been announced].

“Seven years he’s been at Wednesday. He’s not been super prolific in that period, although he’s not played a huge amount of games, either. He has found super-sub to be his role in the last few years.

“I’m not his biggest fan, and yet I have found myself almost a little bit tearful at the thought of him now departing, because he really has become part of this football club – but it does feel like the right time for him to move on, now.”

Should Sheffield Wednesday offer Nuhiu a new deal with the club?

TIF Thoughts…

As per The Athletic, social media was full of ‘farewell messages’ for Nuhiu, whose contract expired last week, from his teammates ahead of the final game of the 2019/20 Championship season.

While Marriott believes it’s the “right time for him to move on” from the Owls, Nuhiu ended the 2019/20 season as Wednesday’s third-highest goalscorer. The Owls’ top goalscorer last season, Steven Fletcher, has already departed from the club while their second-highest goalscorer, Jacob Murphy, was only on loan with the Owls from Premier League Newcastle United.

With that in mind, one could argue that £360k-rated Nuhiu may still have some value to offer the Yorkshire-based club.
