On a recent edition of the Talking Shutt Podcast, former Leeds United academy player Tom Claisse has been responding to a question regarding whether or not the club should consider resurrecting their pursuit of the Southampton striker Che Adams.

The Whites were linked with a move for the 23-year-old back in January but a deal that would have seen the forward move north collapsed. Victor Orta later revealed that the Premier League club was willing to do a deal in December and changed their minds after Adams provided an assist versus Leicester City (via The Yorkshire Post).

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

The former Birmingham City man has made 24 appearances in the English top flight this season but he’s only been selected to start by Ralph Hasenhuttl in 25% of their fixtures (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). He’s not scored a goal for the Saints’ first team in the 2019/20 campaign and Claisse has suggested the club should not reignite their interest in the player.

He told the podcast: “When we go up, I think we can attract bigger names. I wouldn’t even worry about that now, deal with it when it comes at the end of the season [and] we’re promoted and we’ve won the league.

“I’ll tell you now, that many players will love to play for Leeds, we could attract some seriously big names.”

TIF Thoughts…

The pundit clearly believes that the club could attract somebody with a more proven track record than Adams and with Marcelo Bielsa at the helm, we believe he has a point.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the forward is valued at £8.55m and therefore we can assume his club will demand something similar for his signature.

Taking all of the above into consideration, Tom Claisse may be right, perhaps Leeds United should re-evaluate their options once they secure their place back in the top flight.
