The New York Times reporter Rory Smith has speculated over who Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa was scouting on Sunday.

Next season, Bournemouth and the Whites will swap places as the Cherries have been relegated from the Premier League and Bielsa’s outfit have been promoted from the Championship.

However, during Bournemouth’s 3-1 victory over Everton in the final game of the season, Leeds’ Argentine manager was spotted at Goodison Park (via Peter Rutzler).

So, when discussing the rebuild that Bournemouth need next season in Monday’s episode of the BBC’s Football Daily podcast, Smith stated which players Bielsa may have been getting a closer look at.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

He said: “Who do you look at in that Bournemouth team and think, ‘they’re the players they sell to rebuild?’

“There’s [Nathan] Ake, there’s David Brooks and [Joshua] King. I think [Callum] Wilson’s value’s dropped a little bit, but Josh King… I know that Bielsa was there watching at Goodison Park [on Sunday] and you wonder if those are the three that they’re looking at.

“Bournemouth have not really got a vast amount to show for their five years in the Premier League, other than lots of lovely memories, which are very important, and a fairly big wage bill.”

TIF Thoughts…

Seemingly, the journalist wondered if the Argentine manager could have been looking at one of Ake, Brooks and King – or perhaps all three.

Due to the fact that the Whites have few recognised strikers in their first-team squad at the moment (per Transfermarkt), perhaps a move for King would make the most sense.

If Leeds signed one of the three players, who would you want it to be?

Having said that, the forward, who is capable of playing in a number of advanced positions, only bagged six Premier League goals in 26 appearances this season (per WhoScored).

So, perhaps Bielsa should be looking elsewhere if he feels that he is in need of new recruits up front.
