Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has shared the latest injury update concerning Leeds duo Helder Costa and Stuart Dallas, with both men having trained on Tuesday after sitting out the weekend win at Blackburn Rovers.

During the latest episode of Leeds-themed podcast The Phil Hay Show, the journalist shared this news on the pair ahead of Leeds’ upcoming Championship match against Stoke City on Thursday.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

He said: “They’ve trained on Tuesday, I suspect they will train no problem as well in the sessions that are left before Stoke. [Marcelo] Bielsa did say that they’ll probably play – now, I don’t know if that means that they would be fit to be on the bench or be in the squad or whether he means that they will actually play, because that would be quite a significant decision given how well Barry Douglas played over at Blackburn, given that [Ezgjan] Alioski, without being great at Ewood Park, I didn’t feel was very effective and made a difference against both Fulham and Luton.

“I don’t think there’s any issue at all with [Stuart] Dallas at left-back, but I would certainly say that [Helder] Costa has been very in and out so far and probably more out than in, in the games that he’s played in. But you know how Bielsa works, and you know how much he ties himself to an unchanged line-up and you know how loyal he is to the players who sit in it, so it wouldn’t be a great surprise if he did make those changes.”

Both Dallas and Costa have been regular figures for Leeds so far this season, with both players having made 40 appearances each for the club in the Championship this year (per WhoScored).

According to Leeds Live, the pair missed Leeds’ previous match against Blackburn due to injury.

After goals from Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich, Leeds secured all three points at Ewood Park, taking their current points total to 78 (per BBC Sport).

TIF Thoughts…

Now that Hay has confirmed that both Costa and Dallas have returned to training ahead of their upcoming match against Stoke, this will provide Marcelo Bielsa with extra options for his team selection.

The hope for Bielsa now would be that the pair can stay fit for the rest of the season so they can continue to help their side win promotion to the Premier League.
