Leeds United-oriented journalist Beren Cross has provided an update about the club’s potential Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) takeover.

Cross was recently conducting a Q&A session on the LeedsLive website and he addressed the questions of many Leeds United fans. Apart from talking about Kiko Casilla, promotion and Victor Orta, the journalist also talked about the club’s potential QSI takeover.

Nice easy one to start. Who is this current Leeds man?

Back in 2019, The Times had reported that Andrea Radrizzani had travelled to Paris to hold talks regarding a potential takeover by Qatar. He had attended Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League game against Club Brugge and was the guest of Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who runs QSI currently.

Do you think QSI really are interested in buying Leeds?

I don't think so

Yes, they are interested

Yes, they are interested

Here is what Cross had to say in full: “There’s been nothing on QSI since the start of lockdown now. Radrizzani has spoken about his friendship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the past, but never tried to fan the flames too hard. His door has always remained open to investment, but where from is up in the air. Do not underestimate his relationship with the [San Francisco] 49ers on future share deals.”

TIF Thoughts…

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio had interviewed Radrizzani back in April and the Leeds owner had revealed that there was ‘nothing concrete’ in the QSI takeover talks, but revealed that he has a ‘great relationship’ with Al-Khelaifi.

Currently, the Whites are owned by Radrizzani and an entity behind NFL side the San Francisco 49ers, with the Italian owning close to 75% of the total shares of the club (via LeedsLive).

While no one knows if QSI would actually buy some shares in the club or not, it is pretty clear that both parties have a good relationship. And perhaps, this could help them potentially thrash out a deal at some point in the future.
