Graham Smyth has been speaking on the latest episode of the Inside Elland Road podcast about the impact that Pablo Hernandez had in the Whites’ last game against Swansea City.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

Smyth discussed various Leeds-related topics throughout the podcast, but he spent a bit of time on the Spaniard, and this was what he had to say about Hernandez:

“[The] first half was crying out for Pablo Hernandez, and it was really no surprise at all to see him after half time, and with Pablo Hernandez, Leeds had a lot more joy, they pushed forward a lot more; him and [Luke] Ayling worked really well down the right, Pablo got Leeds moving forward.”

It seems as if Smyth believes that the man who changed the game for the Whites was the former Swansea man Hernandez.

Do you think Hernandez's goal effectively sealed promotion for Leeds?

TIF Thoughts…

The 35-year-old, who is now valued at £1.08 million (as per Transfermarkt), came off the bench and scored a winner in the 89th minute for Leeds that sparked wild scenes on the pitch and moved the Whites six points clear of third with just three games to go.

The goal was well-worked and Hernandez placed a fine finish past Freddie Woodman against his old club to inch the Whites ever closer to automatic promotion.

Since the restart, Hernandez has been in good form for the Whites, having scored twice and provided another assist as Leeds near a return to the Premier League.

However, third-placed Brentford are not giving up, and before tonight’s game, they had won seven league games in a row.

Leeds will be hoping that Preston North End can end that run tonight to ease some of the pressure on Leeds before they face Barnsley.
