Supporters of Leeds United have been reacting to the latest report regarding the club’s commitment to buying Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Marcelo Bielsa’s side no longer wanted to sign the French striker from the Bundesliga outfit, however, the sporting director at Leipzig, Markus Krösche, remained confident of the sale in an interview with Kicker (via SPORTBUZZER).

In a report that was published on Saturday, though, Krösche stated that: “The legal situation is clear” regarding the transfer (per SPORTBUZZER).

The sporting director went on to express his sympathy for the player that Leeds are not willing to pay €21m (£19.1m) for him. He said the situation is: “Of course, not a nice one. I am so sorry for him. He is a great football player. When he’s fit.”

On Monday, a tweet was then shared by @LUATW1919 stating that the club is ‘refusing’ to pay the fee for Augustin and the matter is set to go to court, which had lots of Leeds fans talking.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

The striker had been situated at Elland Road since the January transfer window when he arrived on an ‘initial loan deal’ from RB Leipzig (per BBC).

In his time with the Whites, though, Augustin failed to impress as he made just three appearances in the Championship in which he neither scored nor assisted (per Transfermarkt).

In fact, even in the three appearances that the 23-year-old Frenchman made for Leeds, he delivered a weak 5.96/10 average rating (per WhoScored).

The poor average rating over his three substitute appearances made Augustin the joint-worst performer for Leeds in the Championship during the 2019/20 season.

Do you think that Leeds will have to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin permanently?

No, we won't have to

No, we won't have to

Yes, I think we will

Yes, I think we will

As can be seen in these responses from Leeds fans, they clearly do not want to see Augustin signed by the club, however, some are concerned that there is no way out of the deal.
