Fans of Sheffield Wednesday have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports regarding the resumption of Championship football.

The report by Dom Howson in Yorkshire Live states that the announcement that Championship football will be returning from 20th June is a ‘shot at redemption’ for Sheffield Wednesday, gifting the players a fresh start and a chance to atone for their poor performances and results before the season was suspended, as well as providing a chance for manager Garry Monk to show he is the right man to take the club forward in the long-term.

In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by SWFC Live on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that there can be no redemption, while also labelling some of the players as mercenaries and stating that they are looking forward to the season ending.

It is not hard to see why these Sheffield Wednesday fans are annoyed at their club and players, as the side are currently sitting in 15th place in the league, as well as ranking as the second-worst team in the Championship over the last six games.

Does Garry Monk deserve more time as Sheffield Wednesday manager?

As such, Howson’s claim of there being a ‘lack of positivity around the place for various reasons’ is evident, and it would seem that many of the Wednesday fans agree with this – and somewhat prove the point made in the article with their responses.

With the club currently sitting nine points above the relegation zone, it would certainly seem unlikely that they could slip into a fight for survival over the nine remaining fixtures of the season.

However, it is clear from their comments that fans of the club expect more than a mid-table finish from their side, and should Monk wish to keep the fans happy, work will almost certainly have to be done over the summer.
