Fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which BBC Scotland reporter Chris McLaughlin shares a statement from the league authorities following their discussions with businessman James Anderson.

According to reports in the Daily Record, Anderson has pledged to make a multi-million-pound donation to all 42 Scottish league member clubs in order to help them through financial difficulties that have been caused by the current viral outbreak.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Rangers top goalscorers quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who is Rangers' current top Scottish Premiership goalscorer this season?

After a meeting between Anderson and league chief Neil Doncaster, the chief executive stated: “The offer from James is an extremely generous one and we have committed to work together to quickly iron out the details and develop a concrete proposal which could make a significant difference to our 42 clubs.”

After McLaughlin relayed the news statement released on the subject on Twitter, fans of Rangers have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the deal sounds slightly corrupt.

One reason the Rangers fans could have to believe that the talks between the SPFL and Anderson are not above board is that Anderson has reportedly gifted Hearts a number of donations – as much as £8.75 million since 2017, according to their most recent accounts.

In addition to this, Hearts’ proposal for temporary league reconstruction – which would effectively reverse the Tynecastle outfit’s top-flight relegation – was also discussed at a meeting of Premiership clubs on Monday.

As such, it would appear that some Rangers fans believe that a condition of Anderson injecting money into the SPFL may be on the condition that the league reverses its decision to end the season as things stand, while many more Rangers fans have commented on the level of corruption they believe to be in evidence.

While the news that Anderson could be gifting all 42 SPFL clubs money to help them through any financial struggles they may be experiencing at present is undeniably good news, it would appear that many Rangers fans have taken it as further evidence of corruption within the SPFL.
