A group of Leeds United supporters have been responding to a Twitter post from Adam Pope in which he relays the news that the club’s former player Andrew Hughes has left his coaching role at Sheffield United.
Following his departure, Hughes’ role was advertised on the Blades’ official website earlier this week and he confirmed the news via his Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon. He joined Sheffield United last August and at the time, the club’s academy boss Jack Lester said he was “delighted to have secured his appointment”.
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the news via the social media platform.
Hope he comes to Leeds United

Would be great if there was a role for him back at @LUFC in some form.

Would you like to see Andrew Hughes return to Leeds in some capacity?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that many of these Leeds fans would be happy to see Hughes return to the club in some capacity and praise for the 42-year-old kept on coming.

However, there was one fan who joked that he may not be suitable for working alongside Marcelo Bielsa and his staff due to the fact he is not known to be fluent in Spanish.
Mind you he doesn’t speak Spanish does he ? ?

During an interview with The Athletic back in April, Hughes admitted that during his time with Leeds, he would often do exercises and stretches in the bathroom whilst his roommates were still asleep – highlighting his work ethic. He was often spotted in the gantry at Elland Road in his spare time, and in our view, is a Leeds United man through and through, and it is easy to see why so many of these fans would love to see him return as part of the coaching staff.
