Many Leeds United supporters have been reacting to a Twitter post from The Athletic’s Phil Hay in which he described the team’s failure to take all three points at Cardiff City on Sunday as ‘an open goal missed.’
Hay shared the link to a piece he wrote titled: Promotion clearly not ‘a formality’ for Leeds – even if they remain unscathed. Having seen the Whites suffer a defeat in their first game back, he highlighted that despite the internal belief that the team’s fitness upon the return would be superior to that of their rivals, that didn’t come through in their performance.
Adam Forshaw was one of a number of players speaking up about how ready the Whites were to pick up where they left off (as per The Athletic). Hay insisted, however, that the midfielder wouldn’t have done so if he didn’t genuinely believe they were. Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the post on Twitter.
He’s a thinker? Not a very good one then when he told us it was a formality. He should have known better. ??

Well he was very wrong and he should keep his talking for the pitch, oh wait..

He wouldn’t have said it if he was playing

Are you confident going into the clash with Fulham this weekend?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that not all of these supporters were impressed by the player’s comments and the frustration in the result came through in their replies. Fortunately for the Whites, Fulham also slipped up, suffering a home defeat courtesy of Brentford and therefore Marcelo Bielsa’s side maintained their seven-point cushion over those in the playoff positions. Fans continued to react to the post.
Pure arrogance if you ask me I wouldn’t mind if he was a top player i don’t rate him at all id sell him in a heartbeat

Great read, Adam should have kept his counsel, absolutely no need to be so bullish, this will be used against us in the run in, let’s hope it will not be thrown back in our faces come the seasons end ???

Schoolboy error from a decent pro who should know better

Leeds take on Fulham this coming weekend at Elland Road and although there are still eight rounds of fixtures to play, we believe, that a victory over Scott Parker’s men would be a big step towards sealing automatic promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2004.
