Some Celtic fans have been talking about the latest tweet that the Scottish Sun recently relayed on social media.
The Scottish Sun put out a tweet concerning the frequency of penalties that were handed to Premiership clubs in the 2019/20 season. The tweet relayed an article that talked about this. It said that Celtic’s Old Firm rivals finished at the top with a tally of winning a penalty every 411 minutes. This data analysis research was carried out by the CIES Football Observatory and it put Celtic in the seventh position, as the Hoops average one penalty every 681 minutes.
Hamilton and Kilmarnock stand at second and third behind the Gers in the table for this analysis. The tweet from the Scottish Sun caught the attention of many Celtic fans. Many of them weren’t impressed by them, while others weren’t too bothered by this stat.
How is this news ???

The Hoops were handed the Premiership title last month, as the league was cancelled after an SPFL meeting. The club was 13 points clear at the top of the table, while the Gers had a game in hand as well. But the Hoops had beaten Steven Gerrard’s men twice in all competitions, with one win coming in the Premiership and the other coming in the League Cup final (via Transfermarkt).
The update from the Scottish Sun though, didn’t leave some other Hoops fans pleased either. They only seem concerned by the fact that Celtic won the title, despite everything.
And still Celtic won 11 trophies in a row.
No one else matters.

Still they win nothing ????

These Celtic fans don’t seem too concerned by this data analysis. And they shouldn’t be too, as they did end up winning the title and the League Cup, despite everything. Since the Hoops also scored the most number of goals in the Premiership in the 2019/20 season, the penalty stat doesn’t carry much meaning.
