Many Celtic fans have been talking about the news update linking them with a move for Real Madrid youngster Takefusa Kubo.
Spanish outlet AS has recently reported that Celtic are one of the clubs in the race for Kubo, who is currently on loan at La Liga side Mallorca. The report states that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the player, but have already had offers rejected for him. The article goes on to claim that at least 29 clubs are interested in the Japanese and this includes the Hoops.
Serie A sides Lazio and Milan are also interested, but it is said that Los Blancos have set a buy-out clause of €250 million (£226 million) on the player.
The news about Celtic being interested in the player was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record. This caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they made their opinion very clear.

These Celtic fans don’t seem to believe the news, with one stating that the player’s release clause is the reason why the Hoops can’t sign Kubo.
Many other Celtic fans also flocked to this news. Some of them had high praise for the player and feel that he’d be too good for the Bhoys.

Kubo had joined Mallorca on loan from Real in the summer of 2019. In the temporary spell at Son Moix Stadium, Kubo has played 29 games in all competitions while contributing to a total of six goals. All of those six-goal contributions have come in La Liga (via Transfermarkt).
The 19-year-old has racked up a WhoScored rating of 6.67 in the league this season, having completed the highest number of dribbles per game for Mallorca. He has also been fouled the most number of times per game for the club in the current campaign (via WhoScored).
This shows how Kubo has immense quality in him. He has already been compared to Lionel Messi and that is lofty praise indeed. But considering Celtic’s record transfer fee spent is only £9.27 million, it is tough to see how the Hoops can afford to sign Kubo at this point.
