Some Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update involving Kristoffer Ajer that recently emerged on social media.

The news involved Ajer leaving his agent Tore Pedersen, who, when talking to the Norwegian media (via Daily Record), revealed that his contract with the defender ran out in May. He also said that he did want to renew the contract and went on to hail Ajer as a ‘very good’ defender. This news caught the attention of many Celtic fans.

When the Daily Record relayed this news, one Hoops fan said that he hopes Ajer signs a new deal at Parkhead now.

Two other Celtic fans quote-retweeted this news. Both of them sounded optimistic about the situation.

The Grand Auld Podcast also tweeted out this news, which caught the attention of many Celtic fans who also sounded happy about the recent development.

This comes after Pedersen had given an interview to Norwegian TV agency NTB (via Sporten), in which he stated that Ajer will not stay at Parkhead beyond the end of this season. He had also said that the defender will not sign a new deal at the club. This had led to the Norwegian getting linked with moves to the likes of AC Milan, Leicester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

While that shows that the situation surrounding Ajer’s future wasn’t promising, the latest update seems to have cheered up some Celtic fans.

Ajer had been a regular at the back for the Hoops in the 2019/20 Premiership season, having made 28 appearances. Apart from playing regularly at centre-back, he had also done a job at right-back. He has racked up three goals and a couple of assists as well (via Transfermarkt).

This shows that keeping Ajer at the club can be a valuable decision for the club and Celtic fans are right to be optimistic.
