Some Celtic fans have slammed Andy Halliday after a tweet involving the player recently emerged on social media.

Halliday was recently talking on TalkSPORT and he was asked about Celtic’s recent Premiership title win. The player said that while Celtic were the ‘favourites’ to win the Premiership title, there is an ‘asterisk’ over the win. He also said that he is ‘unsure’ about how the club can be handed the title, even though the whole season wasn’t played out.

Starting with an easy one: which Italian club did Nakamura join Celtic from?

TalkSPORT then relayed a tweet about this too, asking fans for their opinions about what Halliday said. This caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they slammed Halliday for his comments.

Will there will be an asterisk beside Celtic's 9IAR win?

Neil Lennon’s men were awarded the Premiership title a few weeks ago, while Hearts were confirmed to have been relegated. The Premiership was suspended back in March because of the pandemic- days before the Old Firm derby.

The Hoops were 13 points clear at the top of the table, while second-placed Gers had a game in hand. While the gap was certainly a big one, some other Celtic fans didn’t back away from making their displeasure for Halliday known.

These Celtic fans clearly don’t like what Halliday has to say. They aren’t pleased by the manner in which he’s questioning their title win and since he’s a former Rangers player, they are bound to mock him.

Halliday had made similar claims last week when he was interviewed on PLZ Soccer’s ‘The Football Show’ – so despite the Celtic fans’ reactions, it seems as though the ex-Ger’s opinion on the matter is unlikely to change.

The Hoops had beaten the Gers twice in all competitions in the 2019-20 season. They had beaten them in the League Cup final and had beaten them once in the Premiership. Celtic were also unbeaten in the league in 2020 (via Transfermarkt). This shows that Lennon’s men were certainly a superior force and deserved to win the title.
