Many Celtic fans have been talking about a tweet involving Kieran Tierney that caught their attention on social media recently.

Tierney recently featured in Arsenal’s Premier League game against Southampton. While he did start the game at St. Mary’s, the former Celtic defender went off injured in the second half and was replaced by Sead Kolasinac (via WhoScored).

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

Tierney had suffered some sort of injury before he was taken off and this news was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record. This caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they rushed to this tweet. Many of them said that the club has done well to earn £25 million from his sale.

Did Tierney deserve a £25 million fee in the summer of 2019?

Tierney has already faced injury issues in his Arsenal career so far. He suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the season and it ruled him out for 19 games. Even on joining Arsenal, he was carrying a hip injury (via Transfermarkt).

Despite that, one Celtic fan mocked the Scotsman for how injury prone he is now. Two of them said that it was only a cramp.

There are a variety of reactions about this, but most of the Celtic fans seem pleased that they sold the defender for a £25 million fee.

During his time at Parkhead, Tierney made a total of 170 appearances in all competitions. He even racked up a total of 37 assists (via Transfermarkt). Around the summer of 2019, his Transfermarkt value stood at £22.5 million.

So in some ways, he did deserve a fee around £25 million. Even though injuries have hindered his progress at Arsenal, Tierney is only 23 and has a lot of potential to grow. So there might be a time in the future when Celtic fans actually feel that Arsenal got a bargain by signing Tierney.
