Celtic-focused Twitter account @celticbible caught the attention of some Hoops fans recently after they posted a tweet which linked the Hoops with a move for 24-year-old Honduras international Jorge Benguche.

Earlier this week, Honduran publication La Prensa claimed (via GlasgowLive) that Celtic are considering a move for the attacker.

As per Transfermarkt, Benguche has made three appearances for his national team thus far in his career, scoring two goals. The forward, who currently plays his club football with CD Olimpia in his native Honduras, has also scored one goal and provided one assist in three appearances in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2020.

After @celticbible shared this news via a tweet, plenty of Hoops fans shared their opinions on this transfer link.

Some Celtic fans reacted negatively to this alleged transfer news, with some Hoops supporters questioning why their club would target the 24-year-old Honduras international.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

Would this be a good signing for Celtic?

YES, I THINK SO

YES, I THINK SO

NO, I DON'T THINK SO

NO, I DON'T THINK SO

However, some Celtic supporters responded more positively, with one Hoops fan declaring that they believe this is “outstanding” news.

It is difficult to accurately judge Benguche’s current level of ability, considering that the 24-year-old currently plays his football in a different continent to the one he would be playing in if he joined Celtic.

Both of the 24-year-old’s international goals came in a clash with Puerto Rico, who currently sit in 178th place in the FIFA World Rankings, which is a much lower ranking than Benguche’s 62nd-placed Honduras

This may indicate that while he has made some appearances for his national side recently, his international goals didn’t come against top-quality opposition and with that in mind, as well as the fact that he would be moving continent to play with Celtic, it may be fair to say that there could be plenty of risks involved with this transfer if Celtic do make a move for the attacker.
