Celtic manager Neil Lennon recently discussed the club’s transfer strategy heading into the upcoming transfer window and whether or not he believes the ongoing pandemic will have an effect on the club’s incomings and outgoings over the summer.

The effects of the viral pandemic have not only resulted in the early conclusion of the Scottish Premiership but have also impacted the financial security of many football clubs all around the world.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

This means that that the upcoming transfer window is a relatively unknown quantity, with some clubs looking likely not to spend much money in order to preserve – in some cases – their survival, while others will be hoping to offload some of their better players in order to help ease the financial losses that the pandemic has caused.

Speaking on BBC Scotland’s Sportsound Podcast, Lennon commented on how the pandemic could shape Celtic’s transfer business this summer.

He said: “Already, Jozo [Simunovic] and Jonny [Hayes] have left. Obviously, we want to add to the squad and not break it up too much. I think continuity for this season, in particular, is going to be important. You know, [we’ve] definitely [been] looking in-depth at players for the last couple of months now in all areas and in a lot of other countries as well.

“I think patience is going to be key. A lot of business is done in the last week or so as well. And we can get some really good business done. We’re just going to have to survey everything, bide our time and try and pick the right ones at the right moments.”

TIF Thoughts…

Lennon’s comments would certainly appear to be positive for Celtic fans, as it would seem as if the Northern Irish manager is still looking at players to potentially bring into the club this summer, despite the potential effect of the pandemic on the club’s finances.
