Celtic transfer target Michal Karbownik has been suggested to change his position on the pitch.

This comes after it was claimed by retired Polish football manager Boguslaw Kaczmarek to Polish outlet Sport (via The Daily Record) that Karbownik’s transfer fee would be tripled should the full-back begin to play in midfield for current club Legia Warsaw.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

He said: “If he is a full-back, [Legia Warsaw] would earn five million euros from selling him. But if Legia sold him as a ‘number ten’, they would get 10 or 15 million euros.

“In my opinion, the optimal place for Karbownik is in the middle of the field. He could play the same roles as Joshua Kimmich at Bayern Munich or Marco Verratti at Paris Saint-Germain.

“Karbownik is mobile and dynamic.”

Do Celtic need to sign a full-back this summer?

The 19-year-old left-back is currently valued at £3.24 million (according to Transfermarkt) having worked his way through Legia Warsaw’s youth teams.

Karbownik has made a total of 32 appearances for Legia Warsaw this season, with five of those appearances coming in the Polish Cup for Warsaw’s second team.

Of those 32 appearances, the majority of them saw Karbownik play in his usual left-back position, whereas he has made other appearances playing in midfield positions (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

The fact that Karbownik has been tipped to make a positional change from left-back to midfield suggests how versatile he is on the pitch.

If Celtic do manage to sign Karbownik this summer, it seems they will be securing a young player with a big future ahead of him that is able to play in numerous positions.
