Wolves are reportedly in advanced talks with Simon Hunt about becoming their new sporting director.

According to Football Insider, the Old Gold have been searching for a new sporting director since Kevin Thelwell quit in February to join New York Red Bulls, and a deal with Hunt is certainly on the cards. The report suggests that they are working on the finer points of a potential deal, and the 57-year-old could be appointed imminently.

To kick off this quiz on the goings-on with the Old Gold last week, which player were Juventus touted to have a strong interest in signing?

Hunt has previously worked at West Brom and Blackburn Rovers, whilst most recently he has been working with Championship side Nottingham Forest (per Football Insider). The report also suggests that Wolves are keen on appointing someone ahead of what will undoubtedly be an important transfer window for the club.

TIF Thoughts…

Wolves do certainly have an important transfer window ahead of them, with the Old Gold still potentially with a chance of finishing in the top-four this season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently sixth in the Premier League table, five points off fourth-placed Chelsea (per BBC), so have a real chance of securing Champions League football for next season if they can finish the campaign strongly.

Would Simon Hunt be a good addition at Molineux?

European football next season would perhaps allow the Old Gold to keep hold of key players such as Raul Jimenez, with the Mexican striker having been linked with a move away from Molineux in recent months. The appointment of Hunt will also perhaps allow the club to be more effective in the summer transfer window should he join, so it will be interesting to see if Wolves can complete a move for the former Wrexham midfielder in the coming weeks.
