West Ham United have been touted to be lining up a swap deal involving Jordan Hugill to secure the services of Queens Park Rangers’ Eberechi Eze.

According to Claret and Hugh, the Hammers are keen on bringing the Championship ace to the London Stadium, and to secure his services a swap deal may be struck up.

Having spent the season so far on loan with the R’s (per QPR), the Irons’ English striker seems like the likely candidate for the swap according to the report.

That being after it was reported by Football.london that it was ‘unlikely’ that the Loftus Road club would make a move to sign the forward permanently.

However, Claret and Hugh believe that it would take Hugill and a ‘small amount of cash’ to make the deal happen.

While QPR’s attacker only has a season remaining on his contract at Loftus Road, he has a market value of £8.1 million (per Transfermarkt) but the R’s reportedly value him at £12 million.

Hugill, on the other hand, has two seasons remaining on his contract and a market value of £4.95 million (per Transfermarkt) but Claret and Hugh state that it would cost £10 million to sign him.

TIF Thoughts…

Take the deal at face value and it would appear as though the Irons would be getting a spectacular trade as West Ham would get a player worth £8.1million for a player worth £4.95million and a ‘small amount of cash’.

Furthermore, both players’ statistics this season would further suggest that David Moyes’ outfit would be coming out of the better end of the deal.

This season, Eze has been QPR’s best-performing player in the Championship with a 7.45/10 average rating, meanwhile, Hugill has been their ninth-best performer with a 6.63/10 average rating (per WhoScored).

Do you believe that there is any truth in the supposed swap of Jordan Hugill for Eberechi Eze?

Yes, anything is possible

Yes, anything is possible

No, that will never happen

No, that will never happen

The 21-year-old attacker has scored 12 and assisted eight in the league, while the 28-year-old striker has scored 11 and assisted one (per WhoScored).

Eze’s successful pass percentage of 86.4% and key passes made per league outing of 1.9 easily eclipses Hugill’s 67.3% success and 0.6 key passes (per WhoScored).

However, it is these statistics which make the deal have an air of being too good to be true.

While Eze may only have a year remaining on his contract at Loftus Road and, therefore, there is a risk of him leaving for free when it expires, Hugill and a ‘small amount of cash‘ does not seem like a fair trade.
