The latest on the ongoing contract saga involving West Ham United’s young right-back Jeremy Ngakia has emerged.

The English 19-year-old first rejected a contract extension from the Irons in May, when he was offered a deal which was believed to be worth around £5,000 a week (per The Guardian).

It is even a possibility that the youngster may not play another minute of football for West Ham before his contract expires at the end of this month.

However, in the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, the in-the-know pundit @ExWHUemployee revealed the latest on the full-back.

He said: “We’ve covered this many a time; the club and him [Ngakia] are no closer to signing a new deal. There’s still slight hope that he might sign in time.

“I think there’s a chance he could actually feature against Wolves and Spurs. I don’t think he’ll start, but I think with the fact that you can have extra subs now, I think he’ll at least be on the bench.

“So, it’ll be interesting to see because obviously [Ryan] Fredericks was out for a long period before lockdown. He’s fit now, but was out for a long time, as was Ben Johnson.

“Zabaleta is coming to the very end of his career, so, I do think even if Jeremy is only there two more games, he might feature.

“Now, the club has said that his agent hasn’t given them a definitive ‘I want this and I will sign’, which has led to speculation that other clubs have already expressed interest.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging from what the in-the-know journalist had to say, it seems that there is a possibility of the youngster featuring for the Hammers again despite reports suggesting otherwise.
