West Ham United are set to lose 19-year-old right-back Jeremy Ngakia on a free transfer at the end of June according to a report that was recently published by The Guardian

This article states that Ngakia’s current deal with the Hammers is set to expire on 30 June and as per the Premier League’s official website, seven of the Irons’ nine remaining games for the 2019/20 campaign are set to take place after that date. However, despite this, Ngakia has allegedly refused the offer of a short-term extension to his current deal which will see him depart from the club at the end of this month.

The 19-year-old recently broke into West Ham’s first-team after making his Premier League debut back in January in a 2-0 loss to Liverpool. The right-back also played 90 minutes in each of the Hammers’ last three Premier League games prior to the postponement of the professional game in England back in March.

However, despite the fact that Ngakia was provided with some opportunities to play for the club’s first team prior to the league’s postponement, The Guardian claims that “his mind is made up” and he will leave at the end of the month.

TIF Thoughts…

West Ham are currently sitting in 16th place in the Premier League table. They are currently above the relegation zone only due to having a greater goal difference than 18th-placed Bournemouth. With that in mind, it may be fair to say that the Hammers are in the midst of a relegation battle at present.

Despite the fact that Ngakia, who is valued at £225k (as per Transfermarkt), has made just four Premier League appearances for the club, he had become a more regular member of the first team prior to the Premier League’s postponement in March and seeing him depart from the club may make the Hammers’ fight for top-flight survival more difficult.
