The piece states that Brendan Rodgers has opened talks with Lallana and is ‘confident of agreeing terms.’

It is believed that the former Southampton man is keen to play for Rodgers again after the current Foxes boss brought him to Anfield in 2014.

The report had stated that Lallana will be used by Rodgers to ‘pull the strings’ and that he might even leave Anfield before the end of the season.

However, Liverpool have since confirmed that Lallana will see out the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign with the Reds after signing a contract extension.

Either way, though, this is a blow for the Hammers, who were linked with Lallana by the Daily Telegraph, as it seems as if Leicester have won the race for the 34-cap England man.

TIF Thoughts…

Lallana has made 196 appearances in the Premier League – so he has a wealth of top-flight experience. However, he is now 32, and David Moyes is said to be targeting young players.

Therefore, a move for Lallana does not make sense on that front. Although, the former Southampton man will be expected to become a free agent once the Premier League season is completed in July.

However, if this report from Football Insider is true, then Lallana will be playing his football at the King Power Stadium next year and not the London Stadium.

West Ham will instead have to turn their attention to Premier League survival as they are currently out of the drop zone on goal difference.

If they can secure Premier League safety, then maybe they can turn their attention towards transfers.
