West Ham United are currently ‘not close’ to sealing any transfer deals to see new players arrive at the London Stadium.

According to @ExWHUemployee, David Moyes’ outfit does not currently have any potential incoming players lined up in the near future.

This is due to the fact that there is still uncertainty over which division the Hammers will be in next season thanks to their current league position just above the relegation zone (per BBC).

The in-the-know pundit discussed this during the most recent episode of the West Ham Way podcast.

He said: “In terms of transfers, we’re not close to signing anyone at this point.

“Because, as I’ve said repeatedly, since we went into lockdown, we don’t know what division we’re going to be in yet.

“So, we can’t plan for who we’re going to sign without knowing that. The club has obviously looked at possibilities for the Premier League and players they could look at in the Championship.

“But, they’re not going to have concrete targets until they know the actual situation with the division.”

TIF Thoughts…

As stated, while the club’s hierarchy does not know what division they will be in next season, it must be difficult for them to attempt to sign anyone.

So, it seems sensible that they would draw up targets for if they were to be relegated and if they are to stay up to cover both eventualities.

Will the Hammers survive relegation to the Championship this season?

With nine games remaining this season, the Hammers are only out of the bottom three on goal difference (per BBC).

So, it seems doubtless that Moyes’ outfit will need to find some form when the season returns to avoid the drop.
