Fans of West Ham United have been reacting to the latest report which has emerged on the contract situation surrounding Jeremy Ngakia.
According to Football.london, it seems as though it is ‘nailed on’ that the young right-back will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
As stated in the report, the Hammers were going to offer Ngakia an extension to his scholarship deal in order for the club to sort out a bigger deal further down the line.
However, it is believed that the Englishman’s camp was keen on a bigger contract being sooner rather than later.
Therefore, the Irons offered him a wage of £5,000 per week that would rise depending upon appearances and also included £10,000-£15,000 appearance bonus per game.
As Football.london states, though, the club took too long to act over offering a bumper deal and now face losing the defender for nothing.
So, after the report on Ngakia’s likely departure was shared to West Ham supporters on social media (via @westham_gossip), fans aired their reactions.

He made 2 starts. Looked great, but…2 starts. He’s not owed anything. If his head is filled with grandure, slap a relative price on him then & see who comes knocking

We could demand a fiver for him, it’s no use. He could be like Messi a d nobody would pay it because he’ll be out of contract. He walks and we get nothing if he doesn’t sign a deal.

Due to the contract issues arising after the full-back has played just four senior games for the Hammers (per Transfermarkt), some supporters were fine with seeing him leave.

Watch the cresswell interview.. see what he had to do before he got his money. You earn that wage. It’s not a given. You should get your head down work hard. And then reap the rewards. Not expect it. Finished with these agents and players that think it’s their right

Should the Hammers offer Jeremy Ngakia as much as he wants so that he stays? No, that would be naiveYes, he needs to stay |
Over his four appearances for the Irons, Ngakia earned a relatively respectable 6.6/10 average rating which made him the club’s 17th-best performer in the league this term (per WhoScored).
However, while some supporters were not bothered about the player’s potential departure, others felt that not making a greater effort to keep him was a mistake.
We are cursed for full backs , but let’s see if it’s true come the time

We’ll regret that in a few years I think, didnt he only want first team assurances? Hes better than our 3 other choices currently.

As can be seen in these responses from West Ham supporters, the London Stadium faithful are split over the Ngakia contract situation.
