Jeremy Ngakia has made his desire to leave West Ham United when his contract expires at the end of this month clear to the club.

The young English full-back has been making headlines for a number of weeks over the current situation regarding the player’s contract.

News first broke in May through Football.london and Claret and Hugh who both reported that Ngakia had rejected a new contract to stay with the Irons.

The player then refused a short-term deal that would see him finish the season with the Hammers as his contract expires at the end of this month (per The Guardian).

In the latest episode of the West Ham Way podcast, @ExWHUemployee looked to shed more light on the Ngakia contract situation.

He said: “He [Ngakia] has pretty much told the club he no longer wants to play for us.

“That came down to disputes over his contract, as we’ve talked about, particularly on last week’s show.

“There’s quite a significant difference between the club’s valuation of what he should get and what Ngakia’s agent, in particular, values him at.

“I do believe Ngakia may have been informed of other clubs’ interests. So, there may be other clubs that have already realised his situation and said to him: ‘Look, you’d be knocking on the first-team door here.'”

TIF Thoughts…

As things currently stand with the young right-back, his contract is set to expire on 30th June, and after that date will be free to leave the club.

However, over his four Premier League appearances for the club this season, the 19-year-old did not deliver stellar performances in terms of ratings (per WhoScored).

Should West Ham offer Jeremy Ngakia whatever contract he likes to keep him at the club?

Over the outings, the right-back picked up a 6.6/10 average rating which has made him only the club’s 17th-best performer in the league this term.

So, while Ngakia is still only 19 years old, it seems that he was not overly impressive in the few games that he played for the first team this season.
