Fans of West Ham United have been responding to a social media post that was shared by the Hammers’ former player Tony Cottee.
On Monday, the 54-year-old retired forward shared an image to social media which led to lots of responses from the London Stadium faithful (per Tony Cottee).
In the Twitter post, Cottee shared an image of himself playing for the Irons in a white West Ham away kit with claret and light blue trim.
Along with the image, the former West Ham player stated: “Dug out from the dusty archives, the good old #AVCO.”
The 54-year-old had two separate spells at Upton Park during his career, the first was between 1983 and 1988 (per Transfermarkt).
Cottee’s time in the first team began after being promoted from the academy and came to an end at first after he transferred to Everton in 1988.
After six years with the Toffees, the Englishman returned to London for a further two seasons with West Ham before departing for Malaysian club FA Selangor.
The ex-striker would go on to feature for Leicester City, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Barnet and Millwall.
Following his post to social media with an image of himself in a West Ham shirt, though, lots of fans flocked to air their responses.

The ‘lifelong Hammer’ scored an impressive 146 goals for West Ham during his two stints with the club (per West Ham), which has evidently endeared him to supporters.

Alongside his impressive goal tally for the club, Cottee was voted as Hammer of the Year during the 1985/86 season when the Irons finished third in the First Division (per West Ham).
So, following the club’s former player’s post to social media, many supporters continued airing their reactions.
