West Ham United manager David Moyes is reportedly ‘determined’ to keep hold of the Hammers’ English right-back Jeremy Ngakia.

According to the Daily Mail, the Irons are preparing to hold fresh talks with the youngster to keep him at the London Stadium.

Despite the club intending to hold further contract negotiations with the 19-year-old defender, they still ‘fear’ that he will refuse any new deal the Irons put forward.

Reportedly, Moyes is so keen on the youngster that he is ‘intent’ on using the young full-back in the two games prior to Ngakia’s contract expiry on 30th June.

The Hammers are due to face Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur in their first two games back in action (per BBC).

West Ham’s young defender currently has a market valuation of £225,000, according to Transfermarkt.

TIF Thoughts…

While the Irons’ Scottish manager seems intent on keeping Ngakia at the London Stadium, his average rating may suggest that he is not worth the trouble.

Although he has only made four Premier League appearances for the London club, he has earned a weak average rating of 6.6/10 (per WhoScored).

The rating has left Ngakia as only the 17th-best performer to play for the Hammers in the league this season.

However, it is a different story when considering some of his key defensive statistics.

On average per league game this season, Ngakia has made the joint-second-most tackles in the squad (3.0), and the fifth-most interceptions (1.5).

So, that may offer an explanation as to why Moyes is so keen on keeping the 19-year-old full-back at the London Stadium.
